Building Permit Engineers
1
Our process begins with analyzing the site to identify a number of items (lot orientation, sun path, direction of wind, best views, etc.) & review the applicable by-laws. With this information in mind we start to explore design options that align with your vision.
2
The design process continues as we work with you to refine the floor plans (room layouts, room sizes, design features, etc.) & we develop the exterior elevations carefully selecting materials to suit your preferred architectural style.
3
Once the design is approved we create the construction drawing package which includes all the technical details and specifications required to bring your vision to life. At this stage we coordinate with engineers to ensure every aspect is integrated seamlessly

MCLEAN RESIDENCE
Located in Toronto, ON the initial concept was to provide a modern addition to the rear that did not clash with the existing traditional style. With an open concept Kitchen & Dining, this rear yard addition was designed to provide an indoor-outdoor connection, optimal for entertaining. Featuring a low open deck & patio, followed by a long pool, with a pool house to match. The design goal was to integrate the spaces seamlessly, and use subtle materials such as the white ACM panels and wood siding.
PROJECT CEDARVALE
This project was a Japanese-inspired addition & renovation to an existing one-storey home featuring 3 bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms and a private rear family room. The redesign of this narrow residence employs the use of proportion to perceptually appear bigger in space and contrast as a means to amplify natural light in the living areas. The exterior is cladded uniformly with charred wood siding, a Japanese method to weather proof the wood, originated in the 18th century called “Shou Sugi Ban” in which the wood is torched, wire brushed & oiled for a clean but coarse texture
